Meet the Team

Dr Asief Ahmed

Dr Asief Ahmed is a dedicated and compassionate general practitioner with a rich background in diverse medical settings. Having earned his MBChB from the University of Stellenbosch in 2016, he began his professional journey with an internship at New Somerset Hospital. Following this, Dr Ahmed deepened his skills in the Emergency Medicine department at Khayelitsha District Hospital and later as a locum in the same unit.

In a defining moment of his career, Dr Ahmed served the community at the forefront of the pandemic, treating COVID-19 patients at the Hospital of Hope stationed at CTICC in Cape Town. His journey later took him through Internal Medicine and the Emergency Room, culminating in establishing his GP facility in Woodstock, Cape Town. He runs the practice alongside his wife, making it a cherished family-run business. In addition, he practices part-time at Medi-Crescent in West Park, Pretoria.

The evident gaps in the health system, spanning across various demographics, inspired Dr Ahmed to delve deeper into public health. He is presently a candidate for a Masters of Public Health at the University of Johannesburg. His thesis, titled "The Knowledge, Attitude and Perceptions of Healthcare Users Towards National Health Insurance (NHI) in South Africa, " aims to discern patients' genuine expectations from the health system, paving the way for an improved and patient-centric approach.

Away from his medical pursuits, Dr Ahmed is a family man at heart. He cherishes moments with his wife, Dr Nurulain Mukadam, their adorable daughter, and two cats, Nobu and Gnocchi, and finds solace in the joys of home life. A baking enthusiast, he has a special fondness for creating delightful sourdough bread, pizza, and focaccia.

Dr Nurulain Mukadam

Dr Nurulain Mukadam, a versatile and dedicated physician, seamlessly blends clinical skill with heartfelt compassion. Her insights into women's health are invaluable, and upon patient requests at Victoria Medi-Place, she avails herself for specific sessions or to perform circumcisions. With a focus on minor surgical procedures and children's and women's health, she is invaluable for her informed views on mental health.

Marking the beginning of her academic pursuits, Dr Mukadam earned her MBChB from Stellenbosch University in 2019. A subsequent 2-year internship at New Somerset Hospital, combined with time at Wesfleur Hospital and Du Noon Clinic, enriched her medical insights. These defining years bore witness to her unwavering commitment as a frontline warrior during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon moving to Pretoria, her professional path shifted towards mental health, and she dedicated a year to Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital. There, she sharpened her abilities in various psychiatry areas, including general, geriatric, forensic, and, notably, child and adolescent psychiatry.

Dr Mukadam's diverse skills are evidenced in her numerous postgraduate courses — from advanced adult and paediatric life support to emergency ultrasound and mechanical ventilation. A distinctive component of her practice is her adeptness in paediatric circumcisions. Dr Mukadam's future ambitions lean towards anaesthesia and critical care, as highlighted by her successful completion of the Part 1 examinations of the Fellowship of the College of Anaesthetists, South Africa. Still, she deeply values primary health care, seeing it as a vital base for all physicians.

And, amplifying her dedication to the medical community, Dr Mukadam, alongside her husband, Dr Asief Ahmed, inaugurated their collective endeavour, a practice at Victoria Medi-Place in Woodstock. This joint venture stands as a testament to their combined passion and commitment to delivering optimal healthcare.

Beyond her medical pursuits and amplifying her personal essence, Dr Mukadam has a passion for good food and is an avid reader of mystery novels. Yet, the core of her world lies in cherishing simple, irreplaceable moments with family and friends.
